For my first attempt, I made Chicago-style beef sandwiches. Spicy beef and provolone cheese on a bun served with my new best friend, giardiniera, with sliced potatoes, onions and bell peppers on the side. I really loved this. Two thumbs up.
And yes, for real, I love this stuff. I’m ordering a jar of it as you read this.
Well, I finally did it. I signed up for one of those meal delivery services that are so popular lately. I love the idea of receiving a box filled with ingredients and a recipe, and being told “have at it!” My editor tried Hello Fresh, which was my top contender, but their menu appears to be set, and my family is super picky. I wanted some flexibility in my choices, even though none of the programs I checked out offered many options.
In the end I went with Blue Apron. This is what my first box looked like. Tasty, eh?

If you’ve been reading the Black Dog series by Hailey Edwards, you pretty much need to pick up this book now and binge-read it. Not kidding here, folks. If you’re a fan of fantasy (fae, incubi, and all sorts of other interesting critters roaming ‘round) and magic, this series should be on your TBR.

Hailey writes about questionable applications of otherwise perfectly good magic, the transformative power of love, the family you choose for yourself, and blowing stuff up. Not necessarily all at once. That could get messy.
