Since there was some question about the narrator last week, Araneae is told from my heroine’s point of view. 🙂
“She’s young,” Rhys said gruffly. “Hope is a fragile thing, easily crushed.”
I stared at him, wondering why his experience sounded personal and curious as to what he’d once wanted and gone without. His tone made me wonder if he considered hope another wasted emotion his clan was better off lacking. Then I wondered how he existed without it.

I really love your first person narration. You have a way of showing so much in first person that sometimes I forget it isn’t third person. So well done.

Thank you, so much. I’ve been caught in the first over third debate for months now, stressing over some decisions I’ve made. The bottom line is that first person allows me to explore characters in a way that’s frowned upon in third. After much beating my head against the wall, I’m finally gaining a better understanding of what I enjoy writing–and why it works. 😉
